Directed by Andrew V. McLaglen, this Western film follows Englishwoman Martha Price (Maureen O’Hara) and her daughter Hilary (Juliet Mills) as they travel to America in the 1880s to sell a prized Hereford bull. When the bull is bought by wild Scotsman Bowen (Brian Keith), they hire cowhand Burnett (James Stewart) to help transport it. Their adventure is fraught with dangers, including killers and stampedes, testing their courage. As they reach Bowen’s ranch, they face even greater challenges to ensure their survival and the bull’s safe arrival.
